Right — have been messing about with this thing for maybe a few months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so figured I’d chuck my thoughts in since a mate asked me the other day. Am based in the UK, generally stick to footie and the horses, a fiver here and there, for context.
How I found it was honestly embarrassing — I couldn’t ever figure out what an e/w payout actually was with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d eyeball it and then be surprised. Now I stick my stake in before I place anything, even the boring singles.
The single bet calculator is the one I open most — you put in your stake, the odds and it spits out the return instantly, either odds format. There’s also the fiddly ones — acca and treble maths, a lucky 15, a yankee, which is where most people I know mess it up. Have a go yourself, it lives at matched betting oddsmatcher free and it’s free with no account nonsense.
What genuinely changed how I bet is the geekier extras. The probability converter which shows you the overround, and there’s the kelly criterion tool — I use half kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. Dutching calculator gets used a fair bit if I’m spreading across selections.
Not all sunshine though. The interface is a bit basic — zero frills, it’s clearly function over form. On my phone it works although the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s no proper app, it’s a website and that’s it — fine by me but worth saying.
Anyway. Free, barely any ads, works. If you still works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saves me a fair few dumb bets I’d have regretted.
Going to come back when I have more time to read carefully, the post deserves more than a quick scan, and a stop at alexanderbuonointl reinforced that, this is the kind of site that rewards a slower read which is hard to find in this fast paced corner of the internet but really worthwhile.
